What is the CellAlarm GSM ?

It is a device that allows communication between an alarm panel or digital communicator and the Monitoring Server over the GSM network. It is an ideal solution where telephone landlines are not available or as a backup path when the primary signalling path fails.

The GSM Alarm device cannot make voice calls on its own. It requires an alarm panel or digital communicator/dialler to dial a telephone number. The CellAlarm GSM simply connects the call to the GSM network - just as a mobile phone would do. Some models come with a relay trigger and the ability to send out SMS alerts directly to a number of mobile phones.

Protection against Line Cut

The CellAlarm GSM can be used as the single means of communication as it is not susceptible to line cut. When used as a secondary backup device it provides connectivity when the telephone line is cut or the internet connection fails.

Can I use my own SIM card ?

Yes. You are free to use a SIM card from any network on whichever plan suits you best. Alarm receivers do not know the difference between a call made from a landline or a call made over GSM, so the device can be used with any make and model of alarm panel to send signals to any alarm monitoring centre in any alarm protocol. That includes Telecare and LifeLine medical alert units.

Dual Path Monitoring - no extra cost

As our physcal receivers do not know where the calls come from, it is very easy to achieve Dual Path communications at the cost of single path monitoring. The Linksys SPA3102 adapter has the ability to send signals over the Internet when your alarm panel dials the primary telephone number and send them over landlines or GSM (whichever is connected to the backup port) when your panel dials the secondary telephone number.
